- Genuine parts and speedy worldwide distribution are an important component of the Yanmar reputation.
All Yanmar manufacturing plants are certified under ISO9001 and Yanmar engines are manufactured under this rigid quality
control system. Genuine Yanmar parts are also
manufactured under this system to ensure
consistent quality.
Genuine parts have exactly the same specifications as parts originally installed in the engine.
The raw materials of genuine parts are screened according to a rigid standard, and processing accuracy is rigidly controlled.
Non-genuine parts rarely have this rigid quality control, so their quality cannot be consistent. Furthermore, Yanmar may not always provide technical service when non-genuine parts are used in Yanmar products. Taking such a tough line may seem harsh, but it is meant to protect everyone concerned, from manufacture, through to owner, operator, service organization and final customers. We are serious about our quality. You should be too.
- Problems with imitation parts
- The use of imitation parts can cause various malfunctions to occur in your engine. Some imitation parts may seem normal and trouble free, but close inspection reveals extremely inferior quality, which can cause serious problems. We have inspected, tested and analyzed a typical range of imitation parts and tabulated the results, as shown here: Connecting Rod
- Strength
- Serration angle is different. This can cause cracking along the serrations.
- The connecting rod bolt thread profile ha collapsed. This can cause bolt seizure, or result in insufficient bolt tightening.
- Any of these problems can lead to a big end flying through the side of the block, to damaging bearings and crankshaft, and in the worst case, to completely wrecking an engine.
- Others
- Bolt seat face is rough. This can cause bolt breakage or other big end damage because the correct bolt clamping force will not be obtained due to friction losses when tightening the bolt.
- The con rod weight varies from spec, and this will case abnormal vibrations due the unbalanced masses reciprocating at high speed in different cylinders. This can lead to damage of the engine parts concerned and to other failures further down the drive train such as crankshaft and bearings.
